Leadership guide

A clearer 90-day focus.

A practical exercise for choosing what deserves your attention—and giving your team a shared direction.

When every need feels urgent, adding another priority rarely helps. Start by making the choices already in front of you more visible.

1. Name the outcome.

Write one sentence describing what should be different in 90 days. Be specific enough that your team could recognize progress. For example: “Every recurring program task has a named owner and a documented handoff.”

2. Choose three priorities.

List the work that would contribute to that outcome. Select up to three priorities based on mission value, urgency, and your actual capacity. Record what you are postponing so the decision is explicit.

3. Give each priority a next step.

Assign one accountable owner, the first action, and a review date. Separate the outcome from the task: a meeting can be a task, but the outcome might be agreement on decision rights.

4. Review and adjust.

Set a short recurring check-in. Ask what moved, what is blocked, and what you need to change. Keep the plan useful by updating it as circumstances change.
